Select Choir Assignments Week 3 - 4/1-4/7
April 1st - On your device, download the app "Ella" (it's free and is a great sight-singing tool) and do the beginner exercises. Do the practice round first; in the practice round, you can hit preview and it will play the sightsinging example for you if you get stuck. You can sing the example given in any octave you choose. Hit 'start recording' to record yourself singing it. You will receive a score out of 100 points for each as well as a star ranking. After successfully completing the practice round, play the round by hitting 'play.' Take a screenshot of your final score for the round and email to hmcguire@chesterfieldschools.org. Make sure to include your name in the email so I know whose score it is.

April 29th, April 30th, May 1st, May 4th, and May 5th - Click here to go to classicsforkids.com and check out choral composers. You will choose 1 composer for each day this week. You will read the short biography and listen to and analyze a piece by this composer (you will need to use Youtube for this). You will then write a short summary of what you learned about the composer, the piece you listened to, and write an analysis of the piece. See below for more details about writing the analysis.

May 13th- Spend at least 15 minutes listening to music today. On a sheet of paper, list at least 4 songs you listened to today. Which one was your favorite and why? What musical aspects of this song appeal to you?
May 14th - On a sheet of paper, create a playlist of 8-10 songs that best represents you and your unique life.
May 15th - Choose someone over the age of 30 to interview about their musical experience. Ask them what music they listened to in high school. What was their favorite song in high school? What music was popular? What music do they like now? What is their favorite song now?
May 18th - Discover some new music by listening to an episode of the podcast Song Exploder. Click here to visit songexploder.net. You may choose any episode you wish. Simply listen to the podcast and the music. Then write a short summary of what the episode was about and what you learned as well as your impression of the music. Use the listening journal organizer below to address the musical aspects of the piece you heard.
